Putnam County High School students brought the energy, enthusiasm, and War Eagle spirit to this morning's Homecoming Pep Rally as we celebrated our team, traditions, and the excitement of Homecoming Week. 🦅
From spirited competitions and class pride to cheering on our student-athletes and Homecoming Court, today's rally reminded us what it means to be part of the War Eagle family. And yes... the crowd definitely enjoyed the fan-favorite Pie in the Face Contest, where even the principal took one for the team! 🥧😂

Our Putnam County High School Service Leadership students put their leadership into action this week by planning and pushing into 9 Pre-K classrooms for Pre-K Reads Week at Putnam County Primary School!
Our Service Leadership students shared their favorite children’s books, performed fun puppet shows, helped their Pre-K buddies create their own puppets, and even got a very special visit from Swoop the War Eagle! 🦅
It was a day filled with stories, creativity, laughter, and connection—and a perfect reminder that service leadership is about showing up, sharing what you have, and making a difference in someone else’s day.

Putnam County High School War Eagles Explore Native American Homelands in Oklahoma
Twelve PCHS students recently traveled to Oklahoma as part of our Native American Homelands Lived Experience program, led by Dr. Mike Mortimer and Pastor Avis Williams, with Mr. Ransom Braswell joining the team this year.
Over three days, students traveled through Tulsa, Oklahoma City, and Tahlequah, learning directly from Cherokee and Muscogee Nation leaders, educators, historians, and community members. They visited the First Americans Museum, explored the history of Black Wall Street and the Tulsa Race Massacre, learned about Muscogee Freedmen history, experienced Cherokee language and cultural traditions, and visited the Cherokee Immersion School.
One of the trip's most memorable moments came when students received an unexpected invitation to meet Cherokee Nation Principal Chief Chuck Hoskin Jr., giving them the unique opportunity to engage with the elected leader of the Cherokee Nation and share their own learning experiences.
More than anything, this trip helped students understand that Native American history is not simply a story of the past. By meeting people who continue to preserve their languages, traditions, and communities, students saw firsthand the resilience, creativity, and strength of Indigenous nations today. Through conversations, shared meals, cultural experiences, and meaningful relationships, history came to life in ways no textbook can fully capture.
The experience will continue beyond the trip itself as students work to create a documentary that tells the story of their journey and shares what they learned with others. We are incredibly grateful to our community partners, families, and school leaders who make these transformational learning opportunities possible.
